Bitdefender and Avira provide top-of-the-line malware security that includes real-time protection and ransomware security. Both are easy to use and even those who are new to cybersecurity can start in the blink of an eye. They both offer additional features such as the VPN and an option to shred files and other privacy protections.
Avira and Bitdefender both have top overall scores in independent testing labs. However, in this particular round I’d prefer to give the edge to Bitdefender due to its superior performance in the AV-Comparatives Performance Test, which gauges how much impact security software can have on a computer’s speed. Its low impact score suggests that it operates in the background, and does not slowing down your computer — unlike some of its competitors.
The AV-Comparatives test measures the impact of each software on system performance by examining the impact of each product on common computer activities like visiting websites, downloading and copying files. Bitdefender was the only competitor that passed the test with a perfect score. Avira was a close second.
Both companies offer a high level of customer service. Avira provides an YouTube channel as well as a knowledge base, while Bitdefender has a comprehensive support center that includes a telephone number, live chat support, email support and videos that demonstrate the use of the product. The support hub is organized by product, allowing you to quickly find the assistance you need.
